Previously, the requirements for WordPress Bootcamp were:<\/p>\n
After talking this over with some community members, we realized this is too far forward of a starting point for the people who need WordPress Bootcamp. Servers set ups are the biggest hurdle for setting up a self-hosted blog and we should definitely teach it.<\/p>\n
We initially included this in the prerequisites because it seemed going through purchasing a server plan might get complex and we weren’t sure people should be pulling out their credit cards in the middle of a workshop. Luckily, a wonderful WordPress community member offered to donate 2 months of shared hosting to every WordPress BootCamp attendee. Attendees will still have to purchase their own domain names. We will be sending out a guide to purchasing domain names prior to the workshop and will cover setting up the domain mapping during the workshop. \u00a0All you’ll need to do is buy one before the workshop begins.<\/p>\n

Similarly, the child theming workshop required attendees to have their own local development environment set up. \u00a0We realize having a local development environment is something a lot of people do not know how to do and would be a valuable thing to teach.<\/p>\n
